All 7th grade U.S. History students will be required to complete an honors project. All students will compete in the Louisiana History Day program held at the World War II Museum. This project is much more flexible than the traditional social studies fair, and gives students an opportunity to exhibit their special talents in one of several categories: research paper, documentary, website, live dramatic performance, or traditional backboard exhibit. The theme for the 2013-2014 History Day competition is: Rights & Responsibilities in History.
Listed below, you'll find a list of possible topics that have been compiled by our librarian, Mr. Piacun (a.k.a. Mr. Daniel). You do not have to choose from this list, but any topic you select will be carefully vetted (examined) before it is approved by Mr. Price. The more recent the event, the less likely the project will be approved. The History Day program usually expects 10 years time to have elapsed, so there's adequate research material available.
